  • Zimbabwe Journal of Business, Economics and Management
    Vol. 1 No. 1 (2022)

    Dear Reader

This issue, the first of the Zimbabwe Journal of Business, Economics and Management (ZJBEM)

It is with profound pleasure, humility and great anticipation that we celebrate the launch of the Zimbabwe Journal of Business, Economics and Management (ZJBEM) with this inaugural issue. On behalf of the Editorial Board of ZJBEM, I would like to extend a warm welcome to our esteemed readers. I take this opportunity to thank our authors, editors and anonymous reviewers all of whom have contributed to the success of the ZJBEM. Special mention goes to Professor Lighton Dube, ZJBEM Managing Editor who coordinated the day-to-day activities of the journal.

The ZJBEM provides an ideal forum for exchange of research output, and information in business, economics, management, hospitality and tourism, and public administration in various formats: full length research papers, work-in progress reports on promising developments, case studies, and best practice articles written by industry experts. Accordingly, we welcome manuscripts that can demonstrate near-term practical usefulness particularly contributions that take a convergent approach because real world problems are complex in nature.

ZJBEM is published twice a year. Further, special issues will be published on contemporary issues from time to time. The journal publishes peer-reviewed articles online in an open access format after meticulous selection through a double blind peer-review process. The ZJBEM’s future is bright as it will be indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals.

We could reach this stage through the constant support of the Editorial Board members, authors and reviewers. I am sure with their guidance ZJBEM will be able to serve business, governments, non-governmental organisations, international organisations, and research community more effectively.

We hope you will find ZJBEM informative and timely. We welcome your feedback and if you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns, please address them to zjbem.chiefeditor@zou.ac.zw or njayat@zou.ac.zw

  • The Zimbabwe Journal of Business, Economics and Management
    Vol. 3 No. 1 (2024)

    Dear Esteemed Readers
I proudly present Volume 3, Issue 1 of the Zimbabwe Journal of Business, Economics, and
Management in 2024, the year we are celebrating our silver jubilee. You can read a variety of high-quality research articles about economics, employment, entrepreneurship, inflation, economic development and diaspora remittances, and devolution as you flip through the pages of the journal. You will notice that the words economics, economy, and research are almost always present on every page. This is because these three words are inseparable. They have always been used together and as you read through the journal; you will understand why.
I hope you take time to digest what the contents of the journal issue have to offer; there is so much to
read, so much to ponder, and so much more to know. For instance, and more specifically, Shame
Mukoka provides a critique of the Philips Curve in Zimbabwe using econometric modelling.
Mudyazhezha, Musundire, and Musanzikwa analyse post-harvest losses in the maize value chain while
Madziva, Sakanya and Shonhiwa demystify the concept of entrepreneurship in Harare. Nyangoni and
Urimbo explore employee perceptions of conflict and conflict management using the case study of a
big company operating in the lowveld, Tongaat Hulett! Lastly, and by no means the least, Tashu
assesses devolution gaps in promoting citizen participation and accountability in local government.
The Zimbabwe Journal of Business, Economics, and Management is truly disseminating polished
    research on Zimbabwe’s economy.
I want to thank all those who contributed their intellect, time and expertise to make this journal issue
a reality. Special mention goes to our anonymous reviewers, and management editors. It is through
their dedication and hard work that the Zimbabwe Journal of Business, Economics, and Management
    continues to flourish.
    Best regards

It is a great honour for us to publish Volume 3, Issue 2 of the Zimbabwe Journal of Business, Economics, and Management (ZJBEM).  In the last two years, we have published 52 research papers that underwent a rigorous review process, and I am happy to report signs of continued and increasing growth for the journal in stamina and quality. Our rejection rate of 12.3 percent (of the received manuscripts) confirms our resolve to maintain the highest possible publication standards.  The continuous increase in the number of submitted manuscripts encourages us to proceed on this path and to make every effort to offer our readers the best available intellectual products and likewise our authors a fast, strict, and unbiased scientifically rigorous platform to publish their research results and/or findings.  With your help, all of us at ZJBEM, from our University to issue editors, to all members of the editorial board and most of all, the anonymous peer reviewers who burn the midnight oil to provide this invaluable community service, will proceed on this trajectory to further improve the quality, the diffusion, and the reach of our journal.
