Vol. 3 No. 1 (2024): The Zimbabwe Journal of Business, Economics and Management
Dear Esteemed Readers
I proudly present Volume 3, Issue 1 of the Zimbabwe Journal of Business, Economics, and
Management in 2024, the year we are celebrating our silver jubilee. You can read a variety of high-quality research articles about economics, employment, entrepreneurship, inflation, economic development and diaspora remittances, and devolution as you flip through the pages of the journal. You will notice that the words economics, economy, and research are almost always present on every page. This is because these three words are inseparable. They have always been used together and as you read through the journal; you will understand why.
I hope you take time to digest what the contents of the journal issue have to offer; there is so much to
read, so much to ponder, and so much more to know. For instance, and more specifically, Shame
Mukoka provides a critique of the Philips Curve in Zimbabwe using econometric modelling.
Mudyazhezha, Musundire, and Musanzikwa analyse post-harvest losses in the maize value chain while
Madziva, Sakanya and Shonhiwa demystify the concept of entrepreneurship in Harare. Nyangoni and
Urimbo explore employee perceptions of conflict and conflict management using the case study of a
big company operating in the lowveld, Tongaat Hulett! Lastly, and by no means the least, Tashu
assesses devolution gaps in promoting citizen participation and accountability in local government.
The Zimbabwe Journal of Business, Economics, and Management is truly disseminating polished
research on Zimbabwe’s economy.
I want to thank all those who contributed their intellect, time and expertise to make this journal issue
a reality. Special mention goes to our anonymous reviewers, and management editors. It is through
their dedication and hard work that the Zimbabwe Journal of Business, Economics, and Management
continues to flourish.
Best regards
Professor Tavonga Njaya
