From the Editor In-Chief
It is with great pleasure that I present Volume 5, Issue 1 (May 2026) of the Zimbabwe Journal of Business, Economics, and Management (ZJBEM). This issue marks another important milestone in our commitment to advancing scholarly discourse and promoting evidence-based research that informs policy, practice, and sustainable development in Zimbabwe, the region, and beyond. This edition brings together a diverse and intellectually rich collection of contributions that reflect the dynamic and evolving nature of business, economics, and management in contemporary society. This issue's articles cover important topics like public sector management, healthcare access and poverty alleviation, climate change and agricultural sustainability, employee performance in the era of remote work, organisational behavior and service delivery in public enterprises, innovation and entrepreneurship, and urban development challenges. Collectively, these contributions underscore the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in addressing complex socio-economic challenges. A notable strength of this issue lies in its contextual relevance. Many of the studies are grounded in Zimbabwean and regional realities, offering practical insights into issues such as climate resilience, public finance management, infrastructure development, and informal sector dynamics. At the same time, the inclusion of broader African and global perspectives enhances the journal’s contribution to international academic discourse. The journal continues to uphold rigorous peer-review standards to ensure the quality, credibility, and integrity of published work. We remain committed to providing a platform for both emerging and established scholars to disseminate innovative research that contributes to knowledge generation and societal transformation. I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to the authors for their valuable contributions, the reviewers for their critical and constructive feedback and the editorial team for their dedication and professionalism in bringing this issue to fruition. I also acknowledge the continued support of the Zimbabwe Open University in fostering research and academic excellence. As we navigate an increasingly complex and uncertain global environment, the role of research in shaping responsive and sustainable solutions cannot be overstated. It is our hope that the insights presented in this issue will stimulate further research, inform decision-making, and contribute meaningfully to development efforts. We invite researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to engage with the work presented in this issue and to contribute to future editions of ZJBEM.
